North Carolina Chinese Lantern Festival

After a few months of dealing with the PCS from hell, we finally settled into our temporary apartment in North Carolina at the end of November. We got our shipment a few days before Christmas and after unpacking we went on our first adventure to Raleigh for New Year’s with our friends Katie and Paul. We rode the Trolley Pub and explored Downtown Raleigh, had breakfast and coffee at Jubala Coffee, photographed the cutest strip mall called Lafayette Village, went ice skating, and lastly, visited the North Carolina Chinese Lantern Festival in Cary!

As we walked through the gate we felt like we had been transported back to Asia!! At the time we had only been gone for 3 months and we already missed it so much. Granted this lantern festival was 100% better than the one in Okinawa :)) We visited again this past Christmas and we were pleasantly surprised by the fact that it was completely different! Not a single lantern was repeated, so that was amazing, but I only took iPhone photos this time. You can see a few on my Instagram. I’m thinking we’ll have to go again next Christmas because it’s apparently a tradition now, also because it’ll be our last holiday season in North Carolina.
