Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Orlando, Florida
Back in April my husband was sent to Florida for training, I was in Puerto Rico (finishing my last semester of school) so I did a quick weekend trip to see him! When deciding what we would do those 3 days, I instantly thought of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and got tickets right away. I wasn’t much of a Potterhead growing up, although I did watch the movies religiously every time they came out. I finally read the whole series maybe 2 years ago and I haven’t looked back!
It was such a magical experience!! We got to walk around Diagon Alley, drink ice cold Butter Beer, practice our wand work, eat lunch at the Leaky Cauldron, take the Hogwarts Express to Hogsmeade, go inside the Hogwarts Castle and more. It was all so perfect!
I hope you’re ready for a long post with approximately a million pictures!
Diagon Alley:
^^ this goblin was interactive and would answer any question you had! super fun!! ^^
^^ Love that we were able to keep the glasses! Sometimes I drink tea from it and pretend it’s butterbeer! ^^
We walked around for a few minutes and then decided to start the day with an ice cold butter beer!! (Let me tell you I still crave it; suuuper delish!) Then we tried going into the Gringotts Bank ride, but it was closed. Bummed out.. we realized that Ollivanders was right across the street, so we went in to see the show. There was barely a line, so we went in almost immediately! The show is basically a take on the scene where Ollivander helps Harry find his first wand.
I had read online that a kid usually gets selected to play the part of Harry. Surprisingly, I GOT PICKED! I was kind of embarrassed (i hate being the center of attention), but I played along. I had to try out several wands and do simple incantations to see if they were a good fit for me. The special effects were awesome! Here’s a little video my husband took, it’s a bit dark but you can sort of see what I had to do.
This obviously meant that I had to purchase the wand, because it was specially picked for me. (haha!) The coolest part about the wand is that it’s interactive, so I was able to do spells around the park, and it made the experience so much funner! I only needed a robe to feel super legit, but they were sadly too expensive.
^^ of course we got some Every Flavor Beans and a Chocolate Frog!! ^^
^^ We had Fish n’ Chips for lunch at ‘The Leaky Cauldron’ (forgot to get a pic of the outside) ^^
Hogsmeade:
After doing the Hogwarts Castle ride, we went back to Diagon Alley and we were able to do the ride at Gringotts Bank! We ended the day with another butter beer before heading out.
Q: Have you been to Harry Potter World? I’m hoping we get to visit the one in Osaka before we leave Japan!
