After searching for dresses on the internet and watching “Say Yes to the Dress” on TLC, for months, it was finally time to try on wedding dresses. On the car ride to my first appointment i couldn’t stop thinking about how surreal this was, i was also wondering whether it was going to be as i had seen it on TV, whether i was going to cry whenever i found the dress, if i was going to find it, among other things. I was beginning to feel anxious but i opted for breathing in and out.
We visited a few stores! In Ft. Lauderdale we visited Victoria’s Bridal Couture and Zola Keller. At the Miracle Mile at Downtown Coral Gables we shopped at J de Olmo, Bellissima Bridal (where i purchased my veil) and Leggenda Bridal. Lastly in Miami we visited the most adorable store, Sasha’s Bridal Boutique (where I bought my dress!!). Here are some pictures of the search for the dress:

After trying on what seemed like a million dresses, i was sure that (unlike i had planned) lace wasn’t for me because i looked too serious and princess gowns (poofy dresses) weren’t for me either. I was looking for a bohemian/ethereal dress that screamed young and simple, i had narrowed it down to two dresses, one from Victoria’s Bridal Couture and one from J de Olmo.
On Saturday morning we ventured on to the store i had been dreaming of, Sasha’s Bridal Boutique. From what i had seen online, i had already fallen in love with the store, but as i made my way in, i fell in love all over again. The store is located in what used to be a warehouse (at least in our eyes), a simple space turned beautiful. Minimalistic racks decorated with vintage knick knacks, held the beautiful dresses.
The experience i had on this bridal boutique was better than what i had seen on TV and more than what i ever expected. Sasha and her mom welcomed us with open arms, offered us mimosas, fresh strawberries, Godiva chocolates, cupcakes and muffins; splendid right? It was a dream!
They were having a trunk show for Kelly Chase Couture and I got to meet the designer (which was pretty cool) and tried on some of her beautiful dresses, which to everyone’s surprise fit me perfectly (no need for clips). But i went to Sasha’s with one goal in mind, to try on Ivy and Aster dresses, because they are the closest thing to the Sarah Seven look i was dreaming of (but wasn’t going to get, because she’s based in Portland, Oregon and doesn’t have her collection in many stores in the East Coast).
By the end of the day, i had narrowed it down to two dresses again… and over a refreshing Frozen Lemonade and the delicious “Poppy Seed & Chicken Salad” at another lunch break at Panera Bread (hey we don’t have these in Puerto Rico! lol) I made my decision! Now comes the anxious 6.5 months wait, i can’t wait to wear it on my wedding day.
