One of the big things that i did in 2013 was learning how to cook by just doing it. My mom wasn’t much of a chef and when i jumped into this new chapter of my life, called marriage, i really didn’t know much about cooking; besides the basic. I would watch my husband cook and feel incredibly intimidated by his skills. After a couple of months i realized it was unfair for him to cook every day after coming home from work, especially while i was job-less. I took it upon myself to start trying new things and i realized that you don’t need to know how to cook if you have a recipe. Trust me, it is as simple as following the instructions and googling whatever you don’t know how to do. Pinterest of course has been a godsend.
Half-way through 2013 i also decided to change up the way we do our grocery shopping! Instead of shopping with our eyes and our stomachs every two weeks, we now shop weekly with a budget and a list. To be honest sometimes it’s a pain in the ass to sit down, choose 6-7 recipes and write down the ingredients we need, but on the upside it’s amazing how much we’ve lowered our grocery bill. It’s also a good way to add in some healthy meals.
The board above illustrates the recipes we give our stamp of approval and would happily cook again and again. Keep in mind these are just some of our favorites! Want to see more? Follow my Recipe Board! We have cooked up almost all of the pins in there. If you’ve tried any of these recipes or plan on trying them, i would love to hear what you think of them!
Q: Do you have any recipes you’d recommend me? I’m always up for suggestions that will make my planning easier! 🙂
