Our Travel Wishlist!

Posted In: bucketlist

Lately i’ve been daydreaming a little too much, thanks to Amanda from Marshall’s Abroad and her gorgeous travel photography. That i’ve been bugging my husband to sit down with me and make a travel wish list of places we want to travel to during the three years that we will be stationed here in Okinawa, Japan. I even got another married couple all excited about planning trips together while we’re here. Let’s just say we’re all anxious to explore this side of the world.

These are the places that made it into our wishlist:

1. New Zealand

New Zealand has always been in my husband’s travel wishlist but after reading all of the posts on Marshall’s Abroad about their recent vacation there, now i can’t stop myself from thinking of this country. It is definitely the place we want to visit the most while we’re here. Even while browsing pictures i find myself just staring into them for some minutes, simply because the scenery is breathtaking and if the pictures make me feel like that… i can’t imagine what the real thing will be like.

2. Tokyo, Japan

This trip is a must, either taking a Space-A flight (military flight, which is free) to mainland Japan and then taking a train to Tokyo, or buying a $75 plane ticket and then taking the train to Tokyo, either way we want to take this trip a couple of times while we’re here. We also want to visit Tokyo Disneyland in one of those trips and Osaka in another, especially during Cherry Blossom Festivals. 🙂

3. Mo’orea, French Polynesia

source

This will definitely be our honeymoon trip, even if it doesn’t happen as soon as the wedding ends. I’ve always watched Travel Channel and dreamed of staying in one of these Hut’s someday. Once again Amanda from Marshall’s Abroad has shown me a place that i just need to travel to. French Polynesia is made up of a group of islands, including, Tahiti (the largest island), Bora Bora and Mo’orea. Bora Bora has the Four Seasons Resort but Mo’orea has the Hilton Lagoon Resort & Spa, both the same concept but Mo’orea is cheaper than Bora Bora, though we would definitely like to see Bora Bora as well.

4. Seoul, South Korea

During our tour here in Okinawa, the guys will visit Korea maybe once a year for training and another wife and i were definitely talking about visiting this country, with or without our husbands, lol. Because it is obviously not fun for us to stay at home while they’re off visiting another country we would also like to see. I would definitely like to visit Korean Palaces and see traditional villages, as well as visit the city!! Definitely would like to visit the War Memorial of Korea, especially since my grandfather served in the Korean War.

6. Thailand

After researching this country i want to go even more!! I would definitely like to take a tour with MCCS Okinawa +Tours, a group that plans tours all around Asia with discounts for military families, mainly because it’s all inclusive and you can choose between taking the tours or wander around the cities on your own, plus you get the chance to travel with other people from Okinawa. I would like to visit the Grand Palace, the Floating Market, the Wat Pho Buddist Temple known for the Reclining Buddha statue.

7. China

We really can’t leave Japan without traveling to China!!! I would definitely like to take a tour with MCCS Okinawa +Tours as well, because again it’s all inclusive and you get the chance to travel to more than one city in China, with tours. The Great Wall of China is definitely a must-see before we leave.

8. Trans-Siberian Railway

source, unknown.
Yes, you’ve read right a Trans-Siberian train ride!!! I found this while researching to write this post and i am obsessing over this trip. It’s a 7,621 km (4,735 mile) journey that takes 6 nights, the “Trans-Mongolian Express” crosses Siberia, cuts across Mongolia and the Goby desert, then enters China. It’s a traditional train that certainly reminds me of the “Hogwarts Express” (lol) it even has a restaurant cart that changes from Russian, to Mongolian, to Chinese food, along the trip. Check out a map of the trip, here
This post has been on my mind for quite some time and i’m happy to finally be able to share it with you all. I hope you enjoyed our Travel Wishlist!! What countries are on your wishlist?  Leave me a comment, I would love to hear from you all! Also if you’ve visited any of these countries i would love to get tips on which places you think are a must see
xoxo
ps. Only 3 more days until we go on vacation back to Puerto Rico and 3 weeks until our wedding celebration! 🙂 Stay tuned!
