The second day of our girl’s trip was spent in Kamakura! If you have a few extra days in the Tokyo area, this is a great place for a day trip!! We took the train from Yokosuka (where we were staying), but it’s a little less than an hour and a half train ride from Tokyo. Firstly, we walked along Komachi-dori, took a bus and found our way to see the Daibutsu (Great Buddha) at Kotoku-in and ended our time there at Hase-dera Temple.
^^ We had lunch at this adorable cafe called Garden House ^^
^^ My trusty Suica card that makes traveling on public transportation a breeze! ^^
This Daibutsu dates back to 1252 (*insert shocked emoji here*), like how is that even real? It’s crazy how much history Japan has! Check out this amazing photo of the statue from 1867.
^^ the first time I’ve seen food offerings in Japan! ^^
The Buddha is hollow on the inside! It was such a cool experience, even if it was incredibly hot and humid in there.
