Back in July 2016 (yes, almost a year ago!! EEK!) I met my high school friend Tatiana in Thailand for a Thai Island Hopper East tour with Contiki. It was an amazing 9 days, starting in Ko Samui, followed by Ko Tao and ending in Ko Phangan. It was a great first trip to Thailand and I’m already dying to go back!! Be sure to check out the previous Thailand posts to see more from this trip.
While in Ko Phangan we took off on a boat trip to explore the Mu Ko Ang Thong National Park, a 42 island archipelago located on the Gulf of Thailand. We danced our hearts out, jumped off the top of the boat into the ocean, kayaked to Ko Mae Ko (which means Mother Island) where we walked up + down about a million steep metal stairs to see the stunning Emerald Lake, which is connected to the ocean via underground tunnel.
From there we were off to Ko Wua Ta Lap (which holds the park headquarters) where we did another hike 500 meters up to the most breathtaking view of the National Park. I sadly did NOT make it to the top (lol, it was so damn hard) but I was still able to get some awesome photos from the 350 meter viewpoint! Me and my shaky legs ended the day by relaxing at the beach. Here are about 100 photos from that day (don’t hate me).
Here’s a photo my friend Tatiana posted of the group at the 500 meter view point!!
