When i learned that i was going to move to Japan with my husband one of the things that i was excited about were the holidays, and finally getting a chance to spend them together. Halloween is the first one up, we both bought costumes online and were waiting anxiously for their arrival. Mine came a week in advance but husband’s costume never got the chance to get here because the website’s express mail didn’t ship to APO/FPO boxes, so we had to improvise his costume. I was so excited to finally dress up like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and even more excited because i was going to be a Zombie, yes, you read right .. Zombie Dorothy.
i D.I.Y.’d my red slippers using some Dr. Scholl’s flats i had lying around, some glue and red glitter.
i watched several Zombie Makeup YouTube Videos and this is what i came up with.
i used fake eyelash glue to create the rotting skin. Since i couldn’t find white face paint or white foundation i had to use baby powder to get that dead look. Brown, Purple and Black eyeshadow to make the shadows, as well as dark purple lipstick with black eye liner.
i used Cheerios to make that effect, lol!
(forgot to take a picture before leaving, so my flats are destroyed here)
We went to American Village, which is sort of like an outside mall, they had a costume contest and we were blown away! Even though it was raining there were so many people there. The Japanese are too awesome, i felt like i was at a Comic-Con, people went all out and i was a bit jealous! It was dark and i only have my iPhone, so excuse the crappy pictures.
Husbands last minute “Slender Man” Costume
this girl was “Medusa” and her parent was a headless person (can you say creepy?!)
These were my favorite costumes, i have an obsession with Nightmare before Christmas and this family blew my mind! The mom was “Oogie Boogie” and her sons are “Mayor” and “Jack Skellington”, she even had “Zero” in her huge Nightmare before Christmas purse.
After enjoying our time out in town, we came back home because it way past husbands bed time. HAHA!
the rain destroyed my flats but thankfully i was “living dead” so who cares!
We can’t wait to go all out next year!
Happy Halloween to all of you on the other side of the world!! ^_^
xoxo
