Last Minute Flight Back To Puerto Rico

Posted In: Military Life | PCS
As most of you know, me and my husband have been getting ready for a PCS (Permanent Change of Station) from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina to Camp Hansen, Okinawa for the past three months and we are finally on our PCS Leave. After starting the process of checking out this past monday, Gustavo (the husband) ran all over Camp Lejeune in search of signatures to finally detach from his current duty station. On Wednesday morning he got a call that he would detach on Friday and we would be able to fly back home as soon as we found plane tickets. After searching all travel websites and realizing travel was waaaay too expensive (thanks Labor Day weekend), we decided to ask if he could detach on thursday (the next day) and they said their wouldn’t be a problem. What did this mean? Well… it meant we bought cheaper plane tickets for the next day and we had to pack all of our stuff, A.S.A.P.

We had 1 large suitcase, 1 medium suitcase (mine), 1 seabag, 1 carry-on suitcase and 1 garment bag, all who ended up getting checked for free (thank you Marine Corps, haha). For all of you who fly with your active duty spouse (and are present in his orders), you may check-in up to 4 bags each, which is pretty awesome :D.
We made our way back home late last night after two stops, in Charlotte and Atlanta. Now we have to make last minute errands, pack all of my belongings and take care of some wedding details, but mostly we have to enjoy these next two weeks with our families. Yes, you read right, we have 13 days until we leave to Okinawa. I am both excited and nervous for this upcoming adventure. Stay Tuned.
