After spending the day boating through the Cays at La Parguera we drove to Ponce for a tiny staycation. I had booked a room at the Ponce Plaza Hotel & Casino and I guess it was pretty empty because we got upgraded to the Colonial Suite (located behind the doors on the far right of the second floor)!! This adorable building dates back to 1882 is located right in the plaza or town square, surrounded by other beautiful historical buildings like the Guadalupe Cathedral, City Hall and of course the extremely popular Parque de Bombas firehouse (will blog about it soon!). We arrived late at night so these pictures were taken the next morning before our trip to Gilligan’s Island.
^^ How amazing was this view from our room!! ^^
^^ beautiful seating area outside our room ^^
Walking around the Plaza first thing in the morning was so much fun! Especially with a camera, because there were so many beautiful buildings to take pictures of. I was in my happy place!!
^^ There’s a small peek of the firehouse on the right, i’ll be blogging about it this weekend! ^^
^^ Details from a vibrant little street library ^^
^^ This was my favorite building, a bank! ^^ ^^ Nothing screams Puerto Rico like side street shaved ice, piña colada and kebabs! ^^
The colorful, historical buildings continue on away from the plaza. Driving through the tiny streets of Old Town Ponce we saw so many beauties! I really wish we had been able to stay a little while longer, it’s such a charming little area. If you’re ever in Puerto Rico, I highly suggest visiting Ponce, the town square and especially the Parque de Bombas firehouse!
