Toji Temple (東寺)

Posted In: Japan | Kyoto | Travel
After exploring the gorgeous Fushimi Inari Shrine, we explore the tallest pagoda in Japan at the Toji Temple. The pagoda is the symbol of Kyoto and has been designated by UNESCO as part of the “Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto” Word Heritage Site. The buildings around the temple hold a variety of ancient Buddhist sculptures (not pictured).

We were offered free tea with gold leaves as we walked along the pagoda, and although it wasn’t the best we weren’t going to let the gold go to waste.

Can you tell i was in love with the fall leaves? This was my first time seeing them 😉
