Things that make me happy: Live Music!

Posted In: Personal

While researching some blogpost ideas, i found The House that Lars Built‘s list of 50 blogpost ideas! I decided to write a post or maybe even a series about #50 “Share something that makes you happy, whether it’s a photo, a song, a video”.

One of the things that makes me happy is live or studio videos from my favorite bands. I especially love when the singers voice sounds exactly like their recorded songs. It gives me chills. Here are some of my favorite live videos:

This video of Mumford and Sons playing at Red Rock has been all over the tv and internet lately. The youtube video has over 31,500,000 views; enough said. I love this performance so much that i’ve been thinking of ordering their “Road to Red Rocks” – Blue-Ray DVD on Amazon. Watching Mumford & Sons live is definitely on my bucket list! They’re playing this month in mainland Japan… talk about “so close, yet so far”.

My brother showed me this video last year and it’s still one of my favorites. Bon Iver performs this live session featuring Justin Vernon and Sean Carey. Aren’t their voices magical?! I can definitely sit back and enjoy this lovely compilation of classical music, covers and Bon Iver’s signature style, more than once.

I found this band only a few months ago, even though they’ve been around for a while. Their cd is constantly on repeat in my car and i can say their songs bring me so much joy. You can find me singing at the top of my lungs to this song, Little Talks and King and Lionheart, without caring who’s watching me.

Dallas Green of City and Colour is one talented man, i mean listen to that beautiful voice of his. His live sessions always take my breath away! Northern Wind will always be one of my favorites.

I am a lover of everything Michael Bublé does, from Swing, to Big Band Music, Jazz, Traditional Pop, and even his latest take on Contemporary Pop. This man is truly amazing, i mean who starts a career in music by reviving the classics?! His Big Band Jazz covers are my favorites, Feeling Good being one of them.

Q: What do you think about live versions of songs? Love or Hate?

Do you have any favorites you would like to share with me?
