Mt. Moiwa Ropeway

Posted In: Japan | Sapporo | Travel

After our visit to the Hokkaido Shrine we made our way to the Mt. Moiwa ropeway to see the amazing view of the city!! We decided to take the city bus from the Maruyama Park station, because the ropeway is only 15 minutes away. It did take us forever to figure out which bus we needed to get on… but in the end we figured it out! On the way back though, we took the shuttle bus down and then the cute Sapporo tram back to Susukino, the entertainment district.

Mt. Moiwa stands 531 meters tall, covered in a thick forest and features an observation deck at the summit. You take a 5 minute ride on the ropeway, followed by a 3 minute ride on the Morris car (cable car) up 1.2 kilometers to the top. The station also houses a restaurant, planetarium and theater. We did go during the day… but apparently the night view is considered one of the Top 3 in all of Japan!!

^^ I swear every single business in Japan has a mascot! Ha! This is Morris the Mt. Moiwa mascot ^^

^^ My husband is not a fan of heights.. but a 5 minute ride isn’t that bad! Ha! ^^

^^ Look at those mountains!!! ^^

^^ Apparently this is a very popular / romantic place where locals bring their dates!! ^^

^^ How CUUTE is this snow bus?! They also have one that pulls a legit sleigh ^^
