Pet-Sitting Diaries: Lucy

Posted In: Pet-Sitting Diaries
As you read on my Weekly Wishes #2 post, last week i pet sitted the cutest little puppy for a friend of mine, her name is Lucy and i promise you’ll fall in love with her by reading this post as much as i did during the past week.
She is the calmest dog i have ever met. I mean as i puppy i expected her to be very hyper, jumpy and yappy, but she definitely proved me wrong. Since i don’t have a job, all i do is sit around at home and watch tv (lame), so during the day she would get comfy either on the couch or on the comforter we placed for her on the floor, always with her sock monkey at hand. She even made herself comfy in a pile of laundry. Surprisingly, she only barked twice during our time together, both times while i was sleeping and was because she either needed to go do her business outside.
^^isn’t she adorable?^^

^^she got really attached to that comforter^^
She isn’t trained to use a pee-pad yet, so her business was strictly done outside. Whenever i would put that leash on she turned into another dog, she would get so excited to spend some time running around outside in the grass. She especially went crazy with the butterflies and other flying insects that like to hang out around here. It was so funny seeing her chase them and man does she run fast!!

^^waiting for Gustavo’s bus to arrive on Camp Hansen^^

We arranged a playdate for Lucy with our friends dog Penny and we learned they are polar opposites. Like i said Lucy is so calm and Penny on the other side is extremely hyper, i guess they were a perfect match! They had so much fun they were both pooped by the end of the day. Lucy also did the funniest thing twice. Both times i left her alone for the couple of hours i came home to a destroyed pee pad. I took this as a “fuck the police” message, like she just was not having it. I came home and i couldn’t help but laugh my ass off. “Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me”. You can say i learned my lesson and hid the pee pads from her whenever i left the house.

^^she looks so sad in this picture, lol. she smelled like candy afterwards!^^
We gave her back on Tuesday and man did i learn so much from that cutie. She taught me that i am responsible enough to take care for another creature, that i can be tough (when needed), that a little attention goes a long way (she was a lil princess that always wanted ones attention), that i will wake up in a heartbeat whenever i heard her bark (which twice around 6am) and that i will take care of whatever was frightening her. Most of all she taught me that i can do it, i can have a dog and be a good fur mama. I have never been a pet person and she has made me realize that whenever we get the chance, we can add a fur member to our little family.
Not only did i fell in love with her, but G wanted to keep her so bad he didn’t even want to say goodbye when the time came. Thankfully she lives about 100 feet away from our house, so we can visit her any day. 🙂
