Fan Girl – After reading Eleanor & Parks last year, i fell in love with Rainbow Rowell. Her books are always so light and fun, always a joy to read. Fan Girl is my least favorite of her books but this doesn’t mean i didn’t enjoy reading it. Cath is a freshman fan fiction writer, pretty famous in her circle of fandom. Her twin sister has decided she wants space as they start this new adventure, leaving Cath (the shy twin) fending for herself with the help of her weird roomate and her fun boyfriend. I did not think this one would have a love story, but of course it did, and in true Rowell fashion everything juicy happens just as the book is ending. She is so good at keeping me awake way past my bedtime, because it’s so hard to stop!
All the Light We Cannot See – I was kind of nervous about picking up this book, because i usually stick to the Young Adult genre (lol) but i am so glad this challenge is helping me branch out. I absolutely loved and enjoyed this book. I especially love when the narrative moves between time, but this book took this to the next level by adding the perspective of two characters to the narrative. The story follows a German orphan boy and a French girl who’s paths cross in the middle of occupied France in WWII.
Still Alice – After seeing the movie trailer and hearing everyone talking about this book i decided to give this one a try before watching the film. I really enjoyed the narrative, because it was a really unique way of seeing the alzheimer disease and put a lot of things into perspective. You actually end up putting yourself in Alice’s shoes because she is the narrator and you are experiencing her decline/regress with her. However i was very disappointed with the book’s ending. I kept flipping back and forth wondering if something was wrong with my Kindle.
